Favourite Photos – Signature Landscape, Aurora and Travel Photography
This curated favourites gallery brings together some of my most memorable photographs from Norway and around the world – from dramatic fjords and rugged islands to dancing aurora, colourful cities and remote beaches. Here you can explore signature images from places such as Lofoten, the Norwegian fjords, Maasai Mara, the Maldives, Seychelles and Zanzibar – all carefully edited in high resolution for both premium print and large-screen viewing by Norwegian landscape and travel photographer Svein Magne Tunli.

Schwarzsee (Black Lake) in Zermatt, Switzerland – a tranquil alpine lake high above the village. On clear days the jagged peak and surrounding glaciers are mirrored in the still water, creating one of my favourite classic mountain views in the Swiss Alps.
The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, USA – an iconic suspension bridge stretching between Manhattan and Brooklyn, framed here in soft evening light. I love the mix of historic stone towers, delicate cables and modern skyscrapers in the distance, capturing the energy and skyline drama of this famous American city.
Sunset at Le Domaine de L’Orangeraie on La Digue, Seychelles – palm trees and sculpted granite rocks glowing in warm tropical light above a calm lagoon. This is one of my favourite island scenes, where the colours of the sky, sea and lush vegetation blend into a classic Seychelles dreamscape.
Lion in Maasai Mara, Kenya – a powerful male lion resting in golden savanna grass, eyes half-closed yet clearly alert to every sound. The warm evening light wraps around his mane and the open plains beyond, capturing the quiet strength and wild beauty of this legendary African wildlife reserve.
Antelope Canyon in Arizona, USA – narrow sandstone walls carved into flowing curves by water and time, glowing with rich reds and oranges in reflected light. Standing in this slot canyon feels like being inside a natural sculpture, where every shift of the sun paints new patterns on the stone.
Sunrise in Maasai Mara, Kenya – lone acacia trees and the open savanna are silhouetted against a deep orange African dawn, with hot-air balloons floating on the horizon. The first light of day slowly reveals the contours of the grasslands, while birds and distant wildlife announce morning in one of the world’s most iconic safari landscapes.
Northern Lights (aurora borealis) over Ringvassøya near Tromsø, Norway – vivid green curtains twist and ripple across the Arctic sky above snow-covered mountains and frozen fjords. On this crystal-clear winter night the aurora felt close and almost three-dimensional, a signature northern lights moment from northern Norway.
Podere Belvedere in Val d’Orcia, Tuscany, Italy – a classic stone farmhouse perched on a hilltop, wrapped in early morning mist and framed by rolling fields and cypress trees. Soft sunrise light brushes the landscape, creating the quintessential Tuscan countryside scene that many travellers dream about.
Anse Source d’Argent beach on La Digue, Seychelles – smooth granite boulders rise from powder-soft white sand, with shallow turquoise water stretching towards the reef. Palms lean into the scene and gentle waves lap the shore, creating one of the world’s most recognisable and photogenic tropical beaches.
Belle Mare Beach in Mauritius – a long sweep of white sand backed by palms and quiet resorts, looking out over a calm turquoise lagoon and offshore coral reef. A woman wades gently through the shallow water as the gentle surf, warm air and pastel colours on the horizon make this one of my favourite classic Indian Ocean beach scenes.
Fedje island on the west coast of Norway – a small fishing community facing the open North Sea, with scattered houses, a steadfast lighthouse and shifting coastal light. On days like this the weather changes from sun to showers in minutes, giving a rugged, maritime character to this exposed Norwegian island.
Winter in Skarslia, Ål, Norway – traditional wooden cabins, forest and hillsides lie under a deep blanket of snow in clear mountain air. Low winter sun adds soft blue and golden tones to the landscape, creating a peaceful highland scene in the heart of the Norwegian countryside.

Riffelsee and the Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland – the iconic pyramid-shaped peak is mirrored almost perfectly in the calm surface of this small alpine lake. A woman stands at the water’s edge looking towards the mountain, and on still mornings like this the reflection doubles the drama of this classic Swiss Alpine scene.
Reine in the Lofoten Islands, Norway – classic red fishing cabins sit at the edge of a sheltered fjord, surrounded by steep granite peaks rising straight from the sea. Dramatic Arctic light adds depth and contrast to the scene, making this one of my signature images from northern Norway.
Anse Source d’Argent on La Digue, Seychelles – shallow lagoon water gently laps against weathered granite rock formations and a palm-fringed shoreline in soft evening light. As the sun sinks, colours shift towards pastel pinks and blues, giving this famous beach a quieter, more intimate mood than at midday.
Bergen at night in Western Norway – the harbour city where I live, nestled between seven mountains, with lights from houses, ships and the historic waterfront reflected in the calm water. Warm tones from Bryggen and the surrounding streets contrast with the dark hills, creating a cosy yet dramatic evening atmosphere in this Norwegian coastal city.
