Kråkenes lighthouse in Violent Storm
The lighthouse is located 42 metres above sea level, but the waves may even reach this high as you can see on this photo taken 4 th of February 2011. When the weather is stormy it is a tremendous experience to stand at a safe distance from the foaming waves studying the frenzied ocean. |

Kannesteinen in Vågsøy, Norway
Over thousands of years, ocean waves have ground the rock to the special shape it has today. Every year many visitors come to take a closer look at the stone. The Kannestein or Kanne Stone was formed by loose stones and the pounding of the waves over a period of thousands of years, and stands today as a 4 - 5 metre high, narrow-footed rock. |

Kråkenes lighthouse, Stad - Norway
The Kråkenes lighthouse is situated on the north-western tip of the island of Vågsøya outside Måløy in Norway. Of all the lighthouses in the country this is the one which is most exposed to the elements. It also serves as a meteorological station. It is not uncommon to report of wind forces exceeding the hurricane level which is the highest point instruments can measure. The lighthouse is located 42 metres above sea level, but the waves may even reach this high. In strong winds and heavy seas, the 'organ' makes a deep sound that can be heard for miles around. |
