Lærdalstunnelen, Norway

The Lærdalstunnel is the world’s longest road tunnel (24.5 km). The design of the tunnel takes into consideration the mental strain on drivers, so the tunnel is divided into four sections, separated by three large mountain caves (as you can see on this photo). The caves are meant to break the routine, providing a refreshing view and allowing drivers to take a short rest.

Skudeneshavn, Norway

Skudeneshavn is a village on the southernmost tip of the island of Karmøy with 5,000 inhabitants. In 1990, it won second prize in NORTRA's competition for Norway's Best Preserved Small Town. Skudeneshavn's old town (Gamle Skudeneshavn), consisting of 225 wooden houses, is regarded as one of the best preserved in Europe. In 2004, it was voted Norway's "Summer Town" by listeners to NRK Radio.

Sirmione Castle, Italy

Scaliger Castle is located in the Italian lakeside town of Sirmione. Sirmione has a beautiful historic center which is situated on top of a small peninsula that juts out into the southern portion of Lake Garda. Sirmione was once known as Garda, and had been a Veronese summer resort for the elite since the 1st century BC. The town had grown to become one the most important Roman cities in northeast Italy.

Gol Stave Church, Norway

Gol stave church (Gol stavkirke) is a stave church originally from Gol municipality. When the municipality built a new church around 1880 (shown on this picture), it was decided to demolish the old stave church. The restoration was completed in 1885, overseen by architect Waldemar Hansteen.

Statsraad Lehmkuhl - Bergen, Norway

The Statsraad Lehmkuhl is a three-masted barque rigged sail training vessel owned and operated by the Statsraad Lehmkuhl Foundation. It is based in Bergen, Norway and contracted out for various purposes, including serving as a school ship for the Royal Norwegian Navy. Geilo, Norway.

Geilo is a centre in the municipality of Hol in Norway with around 2300 inhabitants. Geilo is primarily a ski resort town, but also offers summer activities. Geilo skiheiser has 39 slopes covering 33km accessed by 20 lifts. Geilolia skisenter (formerly Vestlia skisenter) – shown on this picture - tends to have the easier green and blue runs and is where the three ski schools that operate in Geilo take place.

The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família is a massive Roman Catholic church that has been under construction in Barcelona, Spain since 1882 and is not expected to be complete until at least 2026. Considered the master-work of architect Antoni Gaudí, the project's vast scale and idiosyncratic design have made it one of Barcelona's (and Spain's) top tourist attractions for many years. Fantoft Stave Church - Bergen, Norway

Fantoft Stave Church in beautiful moonlight. Fantoft stave church (Fantoft stavkirke) is a reconstructed stave church. It was originally built in Fortun, a village near inner (the eastern end of) Sognefjord around the year 1150. Bybanen in Bergen, Norway

On march 13th 2000, the City Council of Bergen, Norway selected the alignment for the construction of light rail transit line between the centre of the city and the airport at Flesland. The system is known locally as Bybanen. On this image you see Bybanen passing the bridge in Birkelandskiftet.

Chapel Bridge - Lucerne, Switzerland

Lucerne is a city in central Switzerland, in the German-speaking portion of the country. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is the 6th largest mosque in the world. The mosque is large enough to accommodate over 40,000 worshipers. The mosque was constructed from 1996 to 2007. Rapallo is a municipality in the province of Genoa, in Liguria, northern Italy.  As of 2007 it counts approximately 34,000 inhabitants. The climate is moderate and the main part of town is on fairly level land. Many of the villas are built in the hills that rise immediately behind the city to protect them from strong northern winds.

Big Ben - London

The Clock Tower is a turret clock structure at the north-eastern end of the Houses of Parliament building in Westminster, London, United Kingdom, often mistakenly called "Big Ben" which is actually the main bell housed within the Clock Tower. The Rotes Rathaus, Germany

The Rotes Rathaus is the town hall of Berlin. It is the home to the governing mayor and the government of the Federal state of Berlin. The name of the landmark building dates from the facade design with red clinker bricks. The Rathaus was built between 1861 and 1869. House of Blackheads,  Riga - Latvia

Originally built in 1344, this resurrected ghost is another reminder of Riga's still-healing historical scars. The original House of Blackheads was destroyed during the war in 1941 and buried by the Soviets in 1948. Brighton pier,  UK

The Brighton Marine Palace and Pier is a pleasure pier in Brighton, England. Generally known as the Palace Pier before being unofficially renamed by its current owners as Brighton Pier in 2000, it was begun in 1891 and opened in May 1899 after costing a record £137,000 to build.
