Gol Stave Church, Norway

Gol stave church (Gol stavkirke) is a stave church originally from Gol municipality. When the municipality built a new church around 1880 (shown on this picture), it was decided to demolish the old stave church. The restoration was completed in 1885, overseen by architect Waldemar Hansteen.

Statsraad Lehmkuhl - Bergen, Norway

The Statsraad Lehmkuhl is a three-masted barque rigged sail training vessel owned and operated by the Statsraad Lehmkuhl Foundation. It is based in Bergen, Norway and contracted out for various purposes, including serving as a school ship for the Royal Norwegian Navy. Geilo, Norway.

Geilo is a centre in the municipality of Hol in Norway with around 2300 inhabitants. Geilo is primarily a ski resort town, but also offers summer activities. Geilo skiheiser has 39 slopes covering 33km accessed by 20 lifts. Geilolia skisenter (formerly Vestlia skisenter) – shown on this picture - tends to have the easier green and blue runs and is where the three ski schools that operate in Geilo take place.

Fantoft Stave Church - Bergen, Norway

Fantoft Stave Church in beautiful moonlight. Fantoft stave church (Fantoft stavkirke) is a reconstructed stave church. It was originally built in Fortun, a village near inner (the eastern end of) Sognefjord around the year 1150. Fana Church - Bergen, Norway

The existing stone building celebrated 850 years anniversary in 2003, but the church building history is long and complicated. Historians assert that the church has been rebuilt and enlarged several times. Fana Church was mentioned in writings for the first time in 1228. The Brighton Marine Palace and Pier is a pleasure pier in Brighton, England. Generally known as the Palace Pier before being unofficially renamed by its current owners as Brighton Pier in 2000, it was begun in 1891 and opened in May 1899 after costing a record £137,000 to build.
